Men Defile Underage Girls in Rituals Claiming They Will Become Rich

Police in Uganda’s central region district of Luwero said it is concerned about ritual related defilement cases in the region.

According to area police spokesman, Sam Twineamasiko they get many cases related to men defiling under age girls after being directed to do so by witch doctors so that they become rich. On average they get 7 cases per month.

In a recent case, the police said it is actively investigating a case of defilement which occurred at unknown time but reported on Friday at Wobulenzi police station.

The victim is a female juvenile of eight years, (name withheld), a pupil at Wobulenzi RC primary school and a resident of Kikom village Wobulenzi town council in Luwero district while the suspect is identified as Kintu Mustafa male adult aged 50years old a driver and resident of Kikoma village Wobulenzi town council in Luwero district.

Preliminary information indicates that on 21st November 2024, at around 1.00 PM while the victim was playing at school with her fellow pupils one of them identified the victim having blood stains on her knicker which made her to inform the reporter. The reporter also got concerned and called the victim for interview and through the interview the victim narrated to the reporter how she has severally been defiled by the suspect who at the same time is the landlord to the victim’s mother, who stays with her at their residence. The reporter also reported the matter to police for further management.

Immediately police responded, a case of defilement was registered, scene visited and documented, relevant statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, suspect arrested and in custody.
