Some women in eastern Uganda Region of Busoga Have More Than two Husbands

A research carried out by a local organization in eastern Uganda region of Busoga has revealed that there are many women who have more than one husband.

The research has been carried out by an organization called ‘”Basogabaino cultural group”. The region is made up of six districts.

The chairperson of the group, Jackson Mugulusi said that they carried out a research on the causes of domestic violence in the region and some of the causes they observed were polygamy and women being in more than one marriage.

Busoga region has among the highest population in the country with over 3 million people due to the high fatality rate of the women and the community’s love for sex.

“It is known allover Uganda that the people in Busoga want to enjoy sex more than most of the other people in the country.The women and men,alike want to play sex at all times.”

He said that is the reason why there is polygamy in that region,He sad that they found out that many women were in more than one marriage.He said,” A woman might be married in a trading center trading center in Bugiri district, but having another husband in Kamuli district about 60 kms away.They know how to stay at one husband’s home for some time ,then move to another one for the same period of time,rotating around.
When the men learn about it later, they either kill the woman or attack each other and fight.which might end in death.
