Pastor Accused of Impregnating Church Member And Forcing Abortion
A self-proclaimed pastor in western Uganda district of Rukungiri District, identified as Bosco Mubangizi Kahigyi of Jerusalem Church, is under investigation after being accused of impregnating a church member and coercing her to terminate the pregnancy.
Erotic Africa reports that the pastor, accompanied by his wife, Elizabeth Kahigyi,a police officer at Rukungiri Central Police Station and a friend, Lilian Manige, reportedly returned the victim to her parents’ home in Buyanja on December 26, 2024, along with her belongings from Ntungamo District.
The victim’s father, Enock Muronda, a resident of Rweere Cell, Nyakabungo Parish in Buyanja Sub-county, accused the pastor of exploiting his daughter, who had been promised education. Muronda explained that five years ago, during a radio prayer session, his daughter requested a Bible, leading to contact with Pastor Kahigyi. The pastor provided her with the Bible and involved her in Church activities across Kisoro, Ntungamo, Kampala, and other locations.
The pastor later persuaded her to leave her home and go to live in his home , promising to sponsor her education. However, Muronda said he began receiving complaints from the pastor’s wife about his daughter’s alleged relationship with the pastor, which he initially dismissed. Eventually, the victim disclosed health issues she attributed to her interactions with the pastor.
The victim, speaking at Rukungiri Central Police Station, alleged that the pastor used promises of paying her tuition to manipulate her into a sexual relationship. She claimed he later rented accommodations for her in Rukungiri, Kanungu, and Ntungamo while continuing the abuse. She also stated that she endured health complications after several abortions , including abdominal pain and fibroids, which led to surgery at Kambuga Hospital in Kanungu District. Despite her condition, she said the pastor continued the relationship, resulting in another pregnancy that he forced her to terminate, further worsening her health.
The victim attributed her ongoing health problems to repeated abortions and the use of family planning methods suggested by the pastor. Efforts to contact Pastor Kahigyi for comment were unsuccessful, as he declined to speak to the media.
Pastor Kahigyi is the founder of Jerusalem Church, with branches in Rukungiri, Kanungu, and Ntungamo districts. Police have registered a case of human trafficking at Rukungiri Central Police Station under file number CD 32/26/024. Investigations are ongoing.
